Here you can download the (r,nQ) inventory explorer.   This is a small and efficient windows application that can cost exactly the periodic review (r,nQ) inventory policy.   The explorer considers the unit (review period only) lead-time case reacting to binomially distributed demand.  Three costs are considered; Order cost, Holding cost and Penalty cost.  The model is capable of analyzing both the lost sales and the full backlogging assumptions on how to treat negative stock positions.

The explorer also exploits and maintains a database of known optimal results for the specific scenario specified.   Before an optimization begins, a search is taken to see if the result has been obtained before and is in the your database of optimal solutions, thus saving significant computer time.   As users explore the solution space, their individual database will grow.   If users of this software email me their database file periodically, I will amalgamate databases and return too them the latest version of the known results, saving them even more computer time and allowing us to understand this problem space quicker.

In order to use the software you need to download the zip file to your desktop, open and double click the setup.exe file.   Please do not change the location of this installation.

Please note, I have also not yet fully tested and verified this software implementation; so all results in this version 1.1 are provisional.   Needless to say, I accept no responsibility for the use of this software.... but it is free, so please be patient as this project progresses.   Also, please help me and yourself, by emailing me your "c:\rnq\results.txt" file every now and then (say monthly).

Ok, here is the file.   Click on the link, select "Save target as", save to your desktop, open and double click the setup.exe file.   The (r, nQ) policy explorer can be started by double clicking the file named "c:/rnq/rnqExplorer.exe".

Remember.....Please do not change the results.txt file manually in any way.  Problems or suggestions? Email me
